PR2 deals with the development of hackathon methodology. Hackathon is a creative and innovative method, outside a classroom, to find new solutions through purposeful teacherstudent engagement in a given timeframe.
Need Analysis: • Our needs analysis is based on the European Education Area, which demands HEIs to be more inter-connected, innovative, inclusive and digital.
• The aim of the PR2 is to increase the capacity and readiness of PIs to manage an effective shift towards digital education through production of this result.
Target Group: The target group includes:
• STEM & language teachers.
• Educators & trainers from the transnational PIs.
Elements of innovation: PR2 covers the DigCompEdu.
The focus is on the development of a new hackathon methodology that supports digital pedagogy and expertise in the use of digital tools for target group.
PR2 includes innovative use of digital education content.
HACK Step 1: to evaluate available open source digital platforms to boost innovation & pedagogy • creating an informed criterion for evaluation • selecting the platforms • evaluation of the digital platforms in line with predefined criterion • reviewing the findings • concluding recommendations • selecting suitable platform(s) HACK Step 2: to develop hackathon methodology suitable for arranging online hackathons • arranging and scheduling online workshop for educators, trainers and project staff • training educators & staff during a workshop based on the outcome of HS1.
• sharing ideas and applying digital pedagogy
• coming up with possible and suitable solutions that cater for different student needs
• facilitating educators’ digital pedagogy skills to conduct effective online hackathon
• developing hackathon methodology
• reviewing outcomes of workshops HACK Step 2: to develop hackathon methodology suitable for arranging online hackathons
• arranging online hackathon
• implementing the developed methodology
• collecting & reviewing feedback from participants
• sharing the experiences
• taking improvement actions Hack Step 4: to create an E-book (videos) with high quality contents to share and recommend digital competencies to empower educators and training staff for future needs
• developing high quality engaging contents
• proof-reading of the contents
• disseminating the outcome as an open source for future use in academia & industry
Expected Impact The production of this result promises following realistic and tangible expected impact:
• Improved digital pedagogy competence of the educators and trainers to become resilient.
• Recommendation on open platform as digital resource that accelerates the higher education transformation throughout Europe.
• Stimulating innovative learning and teaching through the implementation of the European frameworks on digital competences of educators, citizens and organizations.
• Cocreation of knowledge through mobility, digitalization & lifelong learning for a sustainable society.
• Reduced skills mismatch among teachers increases employability in the labour market.
Transferability potential:
• The outcome shall be shared as an open source with all network partners and shall be presented in other suitable avenues for example Erasmus+ open days, international conferences etc.
• To ensure the longevity, the output shall be promoted among network partners that would lead to sustainable continuation of the partnerships even after the successful completion of the Hack-It project.
• The production of the result including the development, testing and implementation of a new flexible hackathon methodology can be transferred to PIs for disciplines at all levels.
